The In-N-Out Burger Community Engagement Team has an excellent opportunity for a Program Officer II in the HIS EYES Foundation, out of our Irvine, CA* office. This position will report to the Executive Director for the HIS EYES Foundation and will support In-N-Out Burger’s HIS EYES FOUNDATION and serve the needs of people experiencing homelessness.  The Program Officer is responsible for assisting with the foundation’s grants program.  This person will be a team member of the Community Engagement Department, which includes the In-N-Out Burger Foundation, Slave 2 Nothing Foundation, HIS EYES Foundation and Fundraising and Volunteer teams. 

The HIS EYES Foundation mission is to provide hope, immediate support and sustainable solutions to those experiencing homelessness. 

*This position is full-time, in-office only 


General Responsibilities 
  • Responsible for all grant-related efforts, including advising organizations about the Foundation and grants program and processes 
  • Review grant applications, compiling and organizing data for grant review and approval
  • Research possible organizations for missional alliance with HIS EYES. 
  • Have intrinsic motivation to care and support individuals experiencing homelessness through financial resourcing of exemplary organizations that serve them. 
  • Assess grant applications by thoroughly reading all applications, fully contribute to panel discussions, produce substantive evaluations 
  • Coordinate and engage in site visits of current (and potential) grantees, ensuring maximum stewardship of the financial support we provide. 
  • Assess and conduct qualitative reviews of organizations, their focus, values, facilities, staff and operational effectiveness.
  • Complete a summary of site visits, and any necessary follow-up action, in support of the grant review team and its process; requires travel and working flexible hours. 
  • Travel to nonprofit sites and organizations will require periodic out of state travel. 
  • Review grant applications for completeness and compliance with the foundation’s standards and address any necessary follow up with organizations. 
  • Review, compile and organize data for Board of Directors review and grant approvals.
  • Provide recommendations for grant approval and collaborate with team in final recommendations to the Board of Directors 
  • Complete any related administrative duties required in organizing and maintaining files and data related to organizations, grants, funding, site visits, etc. 
  • Support fundraising events; Occasionally attend site visits and fundraising events 
  • Assist with Community Engagement events as needed and assigned 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Work Schedule + Benefits 
  • Full-time, Hourly Non-Exempt 
  • Pay Range: $34.75-$40.75 Hourly
  • The above represents the expected pay range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we will consider your experience and other job-related factors.
  • Office Hours in Irvine, CA: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm 
  • Department needs will call for occasional evenings and weekends 
  • Travel time: It is anticipated that 20-25% of the work time will be spent in the field; out of state travel required.

Qualifications 
  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, nonprofit, social welfare, or relevant field preferred. 
  • Ability to self-start, drive solutions and stay flexible in a dynamic work environment. Chemistry and “can-do” attitude are a must. 
  • 1+ years' experience working in non-profit or community-based enrichment organizations.
  • 1+ years' experience in the grant reading and review process, or related work. 
  • Attention to detail is essential, and the ability to meticulously read each grant proposal, build informed determinations, and make recommendations to the Executive Director and Community Engagement team. 
  • Desire to personally engage with this mission of HIS EYES and cultivate trust-based relationships with leaders within the organizations we support.  
  • Strong desire to serve the Homeless community through the Foundation process, relational support of organizations on the frontline, and the financial stewardship that empowers that work. 
  • Ability to travel regularly and drive a company vehicle; out of state travel also required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; communication with all levels of management 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook 
  • Experience in Sales Force is beneficial and preferred. 
  • Proven passion for giving back to community, and oriented to representing the brand of In-N-Out Burger at the highest levels of integrity and care for people within the community.

Work Location Details
In-N-Out Burger plans to bring its west coast headquarters team back together under one roof by the end of 2029. After maintaining two Southern California office locations for many years, the company will permanently close its Irvine office in 2029 and once again headquarter the company’s western territory solely in Baldwin Park, California, where the company was founded in 1948.

Newly hired Associates in Irvine will be eligible to participate in the group move to Tennessee with relocation assistance or work from our western headquarters in Baldwin Park, CA, upon its opening in 2029. About the Community Engagement Department
The In-N-Out Burger Foundation was established in 1995 with the goal of raising funds to assist abused and neglected children in the communities where we live and do business.  

In 2016, the Slave 2 Nothing Foundation was established to educate and assist in solutions to eliminate human trafficking as well as focus on the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of drug and alcohol abuse.  

2025 marked the public launch of HIS EYES Foundation, providing hope, immediate support and sustainable solutions to those experiencing homelessness, inspired by the life and service to that community by Lynsi’s brother-in-law, Evan Ellingson.  

Our Fundraising Team supports all three foundations with development efforts, as well as collaborating with Community Impact on volunteer opportunities for our In-N-Out Burger Associates and their families.
