Love diving into market data, debating internal equity, and being the go-to expert on pay decisions? The Compensation Partner II role is designed for a compensation professional who enjoys connecting the dots between data, strategy, and real-world talent decisions.
Reporting to the Department Manager of Compensation, you’ll lead market pricing analyses, evaluate job levels, and provide thoughtful, data-driven recommendations. You’ll partner closely with Business Leaders, HR and Talent Acquisition, serving as a trusted advisor who helps ensure our pay practices are competitive, fair, and aligned with our compensation philosophy.

General Responsibilities
Market Pricing, Job Evaluation & Pay Analysis:
  • Perform job evaluations and market pricing analyses to assess external competitiveness and internal equity alignment.
  • Create and maintain survey composites in the compensation management database, ensuring benchmarking methodology is sound and consistently applied.
  • Apply the company’s compensation philosophy and guidelines to ensure fair, consistent, and competitive pay decisions.

Compensation Recommendations & Stakeholder Partnership:
  • Partner directly with Business Leaders, HR Business Partners, and Talent Acquisition Partners to provide consultative support on compensation-related matters.
  • Translate market data and internal equity findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Respond to complex compensation inquiries with sound judgment and a service-oriented mindset.
  • Support workforce planning and hiring decisions by providing accurate market ranges, pay grades, and internal benchmarking insights.

Job Architecture & Salary Structure Governance:
  • Maintain job architecture, including job codes, titles, levels, job families, and job functions.
  • Administer and monitor salary structures, including pay ranges and geographic differentials for assigned client groups.
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure structural consistency, data accuracy, and alignment across systems.
  • Identify trends or inconsistencies and recommend structural or process improvements as appropriate.

  • Annual Salary Pay Range: $95,800 - $116,000 annually. This represents the expected pay range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your experience and other job-related factors.
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Core Compensation, HR or related field is required. 
  • CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) Certification is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation principles, including market pricing, internal equity analysis, job evaluation methodologies, and salary structure design.
  • Advanced analytical skills with ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Proficiency in Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data modeling preferred).
  • Ability to independently manage projects and prioritize competing deadlines.
  • High level of discretion and ability to manage sensitive compensation data.
  • Excellent critical thinking, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Strong consultative communication skills; ability to explain complex compensation concepts clearly.

Work Location Details

In-N-Out Burger plans to bring its west coast headquarters team back together under one roof by the end of 2029. After maintaining two Southern California office locations for many years, the company will permanently close its Irvine office in 2029 and once again headquarter the company’s western territory solely in Baldwin Park, California, where the company was founded in 1948.

Newly hired Associates in Irvine will be eligible to participate in the group move to Tennessee with relocation assistance or work from our western headquarters in Baldwin Park, CA, upon its opening in 2029.
