We have an excellent opportunity for a full-time Senior Manager, New Construction based in our Baldwin Park, CA real estate office.  The Sr. Manager of New Construction is responsible for the overall management of construction projects for new In-N-Out Burger restaurants. This person is part of the leadership team and manages subordinate managers, as well as provides input to strategic decisions that affect the New Construction department.  Must be able to resolve escalated issues; requires coordination with high-level leaders from other departments.  This person will report to the AVP, Real Estate.

 
General Responsibilities
  • Responsible for implementing the preconstruction, construction, commissioning and project closeout phases of a construction project with an emphasis on establishing and maintaining project controls and completing projects in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Provide executive level leadership to the new store Construction teams
  • The New Construction department is responsible for building new In-N-Out Burger stores
  • Provides input to leadership; makes strategic decisions; manages complex issues that arise; resolves escalated issues that arise from operations; requires coordination with other departments
  • Responsible for the overall management of construction projects; will oversee multiple projects at one time; ensure construction projects are on time and on budget
  • Ensures staffing, outlines goals and plans; sets project goals and deadlines
  • Works with suppliers and vendors to streamline the delivery cycle and develop standards for the managers and superintendents to employ
  • Manages subordinate managers
  • Manages superintendents that run the projects; evaluates performance of the managers
  • Establishes department goals; inspires the team to meet those goals; Sets expectations with the construction teams
  • Ensures that projects are adhering to approve budgets
 
Work Schedule + Benefits

  • Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm
  • New Construction/real estate office is based in Baldwin Park, California
  • Travel time: 25% of the work time will be spent in the field and on pre-construction sites in the states where In-N-Out Burger operates: CA, NV, AZ, TX, UT, OR and CO

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 10+ years of experience in the Construction field (preferably in Restaurants)
  • 3-5+ years Leadership and Supervisor experience; experience leading construction teams
  • 3-5+ years of construction Executive experience; experience leading construction managers on complex real estate projects
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)
  • Yearly obtain 10 hours of Continuing Education in the Construction Industry, focusing on new, innovated trends
  • Must be well versed in jurisdiction and architectural design requirements, applicable codes, as well as all associated development/construction due diligence reporting including
  • Experience in environmental, boundary/ALTA survey, and geotechnical reporting
  • Must be highly skilled in budgeting and scheduling
  • Think high level and strategically
  • In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes
  • Knowledge of local quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction job sites
  • Quick Service Restaurant construction experience would be a plus
  • Excellent communication skills; requires strong collaboration with construction workers, architects and engineers, etc.
  • Strong problem solver; be able to resolve on-site issues and emergencies
  • Leadership ability to lead and inspire the team
  • Communication and project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills and strong human relations skills; strong verbal and writing skills
  • Creative problem solving abilities and outstanding organizational skills
  • Strong computer proficiency; Excellent in MS Office applications
