The In-N-Out Burger Community Engagement Department has an excellent opportunity for a Program Officer in the In-N-Out Burger Foundation, out of our Irvine, CA* office. This position will report to the Foundation Supervisor for the In-N-Out Burger Foundation. They will play a key role in assisting with the foundation's grant-making process through managing collaborative relationships with community non-profits.  They will have the opportunity to collaborate and act as a liaison with an overall focus on supporting the Foundation and the company’s mission and goals to positively impact our communities.

The In-N-Out Burger Foundation was founded in 1984 by Esther Snyder and her son Rich to assist children and youth who have experienced child abuse and neglect and to prevent others from suffering a similar fate. This person will be a team member of the Community Engagement Department, which includes the In-N-Out Burger Foundation, Slave 2 Nothing Foundation, Fundraising, and Donations.

*This position is full-time, in-office only


General Responsibilities
  • Conduct site visit meetings with existing and potential new grantees to assess and conduct a qualitative review of the organization, its mission, and overall programs to determine missional alignment with the foundation. 
  • Create post-visit summaries and action plans 
  • Advise organizations about the foundation, grants program, requirements, and processes; navigate difficult conversations with organizations while providing excellent customer service
  • Review grant applications to assist in determining missional alignment and impact; and perform any necessary follow-up with organizations
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining files/data related to organizations, grants, funding, site visits, etc.
  • Work with the team and provide strategic input to support and execute opportunities and initiatives that further our mission
  • Support the team with initiatives to increase awareness internally and externally about the issue of child abuse and neglect 
  • Play a key role in developing funding insights and collaborate with the team to provide final recommendations to the Board of Directors for approval
  • Assist with foundation events as needed and assigned

Work Schedule + Benefits
  • Full-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
  • Pay Range is $34.50-$38.25 per hour 
    The above represents the expected pay range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your experience and other job-related factors.
  • Office Hours in Irvine, CA: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm 
  • Department needs will call for occasional evenings and weekends 
  • Travel: It is anticipated that 20-30% of the work time will be spent in the field; out-of-state travel required

Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, social science, psychology, or related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of non-profit, philanthropy, community-based enrichment organizations, or similar experience; required 
  • Knowledge of non-profits, children and youth, child welfare, and trauma is a plus 
  • Proficient in MS Office is required; experience with CRM/grant-making software and Asana or other project management platform is a plus 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a people-first mentality and a passion for great customer service as a representative of the Foundation and In-N-Out Burger
  • A heart that is passionate about serving people and caring for the community, especially children who have experienced abuse/neglect and the adjacent issues of homelessness, domestic violence, and prevention
  • Works with a high level of integrity and consistently carries themselves with tact and professionalism
  • Self-motivated, detail-orientation, thorough strategic and analytical thinker, with a continuous desire to grow and be challenged as a constant learner
  • Consistently confident, professional, adaptable, and comfortable having difficult conversations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to efficiently and effectively communicate with various teams and levels of management within the company and non-profit organizations
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, and activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing responsibilities and overall time allocation
  • Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational, or process problems appropriately in diverse situations
  • Ability to develop process improvements for planning, communication efficiency, and archiving information for record-keeping
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
