The In-N-Out Burger Community Engagement Team has an excellent opportunity for a Program Officer II in the Slave 2 Nothing Foundation, out of our Irvine, CA* office

This position will report to the Foundation Supervisor and will support In-N-Out Burger’s Slave 2 Nothing Foundation. The Program Officer II is responsible for supporting strategic grant-making and community engagement by assessing grantees, creating advocacy programs, and managing fund allocation to enhance the Foundation's impact and visibility. 

The Slave 2 Nothing Foundation was established to educate and support nonprofits working to eliminate human trafficking, as well as focus on those fighting substance abuse.

*This position is full-time, in-office only

General Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments of potential grantees, including performing due diligence to ensure alignment with the Foundation’s mission and priorities, verifying they meet the Foundation’s standards and requirements, and ensuring strategic use of resources.
  • Develop and manage programs that advocate for priority causes and enhance community awareness, in collaboration with senior staff.
  • Participate in site visits to build relationships with non-profits and evaluate their programs for potential funding, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Communications, and Project Management teams to contribute to and refine community engagement strategies.
  • Manage parts of the grant-making process by conducting detailed reviews, ensuring due diligence is complete, and making informed grant recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Assist in managing the responsible allocation of Foundation funds, ensuring effective use of resources and maximized impact.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations to foster partnerships and support long-term collaboration.
  • Contribute significantly to the planning and execution of events, projects, and special initiatives, ensuring alignment with Foundation and company goals.
  • Track and document success stories, support fundraising initiatives, and engage with stakeholders to elevate the Foundation's visibility and impact, taking a more active role in driving engagement.

Work Schedule + Benefits
  • Full-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
  • Hourly Pay Range: $35.00 - $40.00
  • The above represents the expected pay range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we will consider your experience and other job-related factors.
  • Office Hours in Irvine, CA: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm
  • Department needs will call for occasional evenings and weekends
  • Travel time: It is anticipated that 20-25% of the work time will be spent in the field; out of state travel required

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • Certification in Grant Management, Grant Writing, Project Management, or Nonprofit Management is a plus.
  • Minimum 6 years of nonprofit management experience, with a focus on grant making or a related field.
  • Experience in strategic planning, relationship building, and advocacy within the nonprofit sector.
  • Direct service experience in substance abuse recovery and a strong commitment to supporting this community.
  • Proven ability to lead community engagement initiatives.
  • Strong communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and resource management abilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with adaptability to change.
  • High emotional intelligence and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Digital literacy and proficiency with nonprofit CRM, project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial analysis tools.

Work Location Details
In-N-Out Burger plans to bring its west coast headquarters team back together under one roof by the end of 2029. After maintaining two Southern California office locations for many years, the company will permanently close its Irvine office in 2029 and once again headquarter the company’s western territory solely in Baldwin Park, California, where the company was founded in 1948.

Newly hired Associates in Irvine will be eligible to participate in the group move to Tennessee with relocation assistance or work from our western headquarters in Baldwin Park, CA, upon its opening in 2029. ABOUT the Community Engagement Department
The In-N-Out Burger Foundation was established in 1995 with the goal of raising funds to assist abused and neglected children in the communities where we live and do business.

In 2016, the Slave 2 Nothing Foundation was established to educate and assist in solutions to eliminate human trafficking as well as focus on those needing treatment, rehabilitation and prevention from drug/alcohol abuse. Our Fundraising Team supports both foundations with small and large scaled fundraising efforts and collaborates with Community Impact on volunteer opportunities for our In-N-Out Burger Associates and their families.
