We have an exciting opportunity in our Human Resources (HR) department for a Full-time Manager of Associate Communications based in our Irvine, CA* office reporting to the Talent & Organizational Development Manager.  This position is a newly created role responsible for developing an internal communication strategy engaging over 36,000 Associates and maintain In-N-Out's strong organizational culture.

As a member of the Talent and Organizational Development team, the Manager of Associate Communications partners with the Manager of Talent & Organizational Development and AVP of HR on the overall Associate communication strategy and approach for both stores and support departments.  This individual is focused on providing organizational information and communication to all Associates, encompassing subjects such as organization mission, strategy, policies, and performance, Company-wide and function-specific programs, processes, and tools,  Associate compensation/benefits and other HR programs and policies, new systems or policy changes, company or foundation events, and other people programs and information.  

Manager of Associate Communications is focused on providing information to Associates to: 
  • Ensure that they understand the company’s mission, strategy, policies, and performance 
  • Equip them with the company-wide and function-specific tools and information that they need to perform their jobs 
  • Communicate compensation, benefits, and other HR programs and policies 
  • Enhance change management efforts by providing clear, concise, timely information about changes to companywide systems, procedures or processes. 
  • Convey a positive image of the company. 
Responsibilities:
  • Creating end-to-end communications plans with operations and support leaders and stakeholders for internal announcements, change management projects, technology changes, and relevant news and events. Coordinating with partners across operations and support departments to ensure consistent messaging and branding.  
  • Creating and maintaining a centralized communication calendar. 
  • Developing communication pieces in collaboration with Department and Operational stake holders. Coaching internal project teams on approaches for effective Associate communications, cadence and channels.
  • Reviewing and editing function specific documents drafted by subject matter experts to ensure they are written appropriately for the targeted audience and is consistent with organizational style guidelines. 
  • Driving awareness of and participation in major initiatives tied to workplace satisfaction (development opportunities, annual associate surveys, new hire onboarding surveys, and “alumni” communication) 
  • Continuously evolving and maintaining communication tools, processes and channels (Associate intranet, INO Times, Slack, etc.)
  • Driving engagement with content using a multi-channel approach, in a highly distributed, non desk-centered environment 
Work Schedule + Benefits

  • Salary Range: ($109,500-$145,000) 
The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your experience and other job-related factors.
  • Full-time, Exempt
  • Hours: Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm
  • In-office position
  • Minimal travel (less than 10%) is required between our corporate facilities (Irvine, CA, Baldwin Park, CA and Lathrop, CA) as well as to satellite offices in Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Utah, Oregon and Colorado on an as needed basis.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 5-7+ years' experience in a communications role, preferably internal communications
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; including editing and copywriting
  • The ability to simplify complex information into engaging content; effective storyteller
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills in order to collaborate & partner with a variety of departments and stakeholders including, Operations, HR, Marketing, IT, etc.
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills, able to set own priorities, and work under tight deadline pressure
  • Strong project management skills
  • Adaptable and humble, willing to take on projects big and small
  • Strong technical understanding of communication channels and trends
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, English or relevant field
  • Experience with communication tools like email platforms, Slack and company intranets.
  • Experience developing content for diverse audiences.
  • Experience with photo and/or video-editing software a plus
  • Familiarity with presentation and graphic design software (PPT, Adobe, etc.) a plus
