In-N-Out Burger has an excellent opportunity for a full-time HR Compliance Specialist based in Irvine, CA*. This position is responsible for managing and carrying out various day-to-day responsibilities supporting the HR and Legal Departments compliance initiatives. The Compliance Specialist will be responsible for providing compliance support, including overseeing the implementation of any new compliance requirements and monitoring and updating any existing programs, policies, or procedures. Implementing these requirements often includes interaction with our HR and HRIS teams, Legal and IT Department. This individual will respond to general policy, procedure, or labor law inquiries as well. Other responsibilities include generating, compiling, and organizing the collection of data, information, and resources for multiple reports as required and assisting with other general projects, reports, and programs as needed. The person in this position should have 1-2 years of prior general HR knowledge and experience. Compliance experience is preferred.

General Responsibilities
  • Monitor Federal/State/Local laws that impact our multi-state Store and/or Support Associates.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations, Legal and HR to develop practical procedures in support of compliance policies
  • Create, update and audit policies and procedures to ensure compliance of company, federal, state, or local regulations and applicable employment laws.  
  • Create communication and training materials as needed.
  • Assist in the revisions of the Store and Support handbook.  
  • Develop communication materials as well as set up and monitor acknowledgement reporting.
  • Participate in reviews, audits and inquiries working in conjunction with our HR Compliance Manager.
  • Contribute in the development, review, testing and administration of any compliance training (Harassment Prevention, Accommodating People with Disabilities, Mandated Reporter, etc.). Set up and monitor acknowledgement reporting and notification process to ensure completion.
  • Provide first response to inquiries from the background team, including Fair Chance and decisional assessments.
  • Provide support in the development of outstanding job descriptions.
  • Assist all other department members when needed to accomplish critical projects or meet tight deadlines.
  • Participates as a member of various teams as needed.

Work Schedule + Benefits
  • Pay Range: ($72,000-$82,000)
    The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your experience and other job-related factors.

  • Hours: Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
  • 1 to 2 years HR experience, or in investigations, audit, regulatory, risk or compliance environment preferred.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner, proactively identifying issues and being solution-oriented
  • Ability to take initiative to lead projects and follow-up on outstanding items
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, high attention to detail, and problem solving ability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and capable of communicating regarding project progress
  • High degree of discretion and ability to safeguard confidential information
  • Strong sense of integrity, behaving consistently with expressed values and ethical principles of In-N-Out Burger
  • Technical aptitude with Microsoft Excel, including Excel formulas (e.g., vlookups, Pivot tables) and Microsoft Word
