Description & Requirements

We have an excellent opportunity for a full-time Food Safety Quality Assurance Project Specialist in our Chino, CA facility. This person aims to strategically support business growth and deliver value through the operational execution of food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance protocols. The role works closely with FSQA leadership to support all Food Safety and Quality Assurance initiatives while ensuring regulatory compliance.

The FSQA Project Specialist has responsibility to support all departments under the FSQA umbrella. The role ensures materials, tools, systems, and programs intended to aid in ensuring food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, are developed, organized, and maintained as valuable and updated resources. This is accomplished primarily through the Restaurant Food Safety Plan, food safety training, research, and direct support.

The role requires significant data analysis expertise to help analyze and advise on food safety related risks in the company. The role works to ensure resources are current and effective by collaborating with key business partners, including Store Operations, IT, Maintenance, INOU, Supply Chain, Risk Management, Sanitation, Research & Development, QFC, and others.

Job Duties: 

FSQA Team Support

  • Report on key metrics
  • Completion of assigned projects to meet department goals and objectives
  • Organize and maintain department records

Store Operations

  • Create, revise, and amend SOPs and SSOPs for food handling and cleaning procedures based on operational need and/or revisions to the Food Code
  • Monitor FDA recommendations for amendments to the Food Code to provide advanced planning and resource alignment for future changes in policy and procedures
  • Create all communications necessary with which to implement changes in policy and procedure in a clear, concise, and timely manner

Food Safety Training

  • Partner with INOU in the development of checklists and certifications to incorporate any necessary food safety related elements
  • Partner with INOU in developing video courses that require FSQA oversight – this may include writing and/or editing scripts and participating in film shoots
  • Partner with INOU to keep all resources, including manuals, playbooks, tutorials, and resource guides up to date with the most current food safety requirements and/or recommendations

Interdepartmental Support

  • Risk Management – Ensure that all training materials incorporate areas such as safe working practices, proper PPE, chemical use, etc. and revise/amend as necessary per Risk Management requirements
  • Maintenance – Partner in the development of procedures for maintaining and servicing store facilities and equipment that ensure best practices for food safety
  • IT – Partner in the developing of technology and reporting elements that enhance food safety and regulatory compliance in all areas
  • Research & Development – Partner in the development of new cleaning tools, operation equipment, and procedures that enhance food safety, for both new and existing equipment

Work Schedule + Benefits

  • Full-time position, (Exempt) 
  • Compensation Range: $103,156.00 - $120,500.00 DOE
The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your experience and other job-related factors.
  • Approx. Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with occasional evenings, weekends, and travel required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum associate’s degree
  •  Bachelor's degree (Preferred) (Preferably in microbiology, public health, or another closely related science)
  • Minimum five years’ experience in the food service industry
  • Good general knowledge and understanding of FDA Model Food Code
  • Advanced Excel skill and Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
  • Ability to work independently and with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Ability to write business reports and present to groups
  • CP-FS, CCFS, or RS/REHS professional credential (Preferred) 
  • Strong analytic/data manipulation skills using Excel (Preferred)
