The In-N-Out Burger Community Engagement and Fundraising team has an excellent opportunity for a Donor Engagement & Major Gifts Specialist, based out of our Irvine, CA* office. This position will report to the Fundraising Manager and will be a team member of the Community Engagement Department, which includes the In-N-Out Burger Foundation, Slave 2 Nothing Foundation, Fundraising and Volunteer teams.

The Fundraising Team exists to magnify the impact of In-N-Out Burger on the communities where we live, work and do business. We enable our associates and vendors to live out the third part of the mission statement to make our communities stronger safer and better by inviting them into the work we are doing with their time, treasure and talents.

*This position is full-time, in-office only


General Responsibilities
  • Develop sponsorship levels & solicitation materials for upcoming events and campaigns 
  • Establish relationships with HNWI, corporate partners, and internal contributors to better understand their philanthropic decision-making process and giving priorities
  • Build annual moves management plans with progress markers to ensure portfolio capacity is fully explored   
  • Engage all aspects of our organizational partnerships in collaboration with other departments including workplace giving, employee engagement, and in-kind contributions
  • Oversee gift processing from all platforms, ensuring contributors are segmented and assigned as appropriate   
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to identify and cultivate prospective donors, capture relationship history, educate around fundraising initiatives and collaborate on donor visits and solicitations
  • Manage a portfolio of new and existing donors, conducting a minimum of 8-10 direct portfolio-wide solicitations per year
  • Craft donor engagement programs, annual giving circles and membership funds to support existing causes and new initiatives 
  • Maintain portfolio records, tracking donor communications and relationship connections 
  • Monitor all recognition benefits and engagement opportunities
  • Provide onsite support for all fundraising events and activities
  • Travel: Up to 10% travel required to onsite events
  • Assist with Community Engagement department functions as needed and assigned


Work Schedule + Benefits
  • Full-time, Exempt
  • Pay Range is $71,000-$81,800
    The above represents the expected pay range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we will consider your experience and other job-related factors.
  • Office Hours in Irvine, CA: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm 
  • Department needs will call for occasional evenings and weekends
  • Travel time: It is anticipated that 10% of the work time will be spent onsite at fundraising and Community Engagement events; out of state travel may be required

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public relations, Communications, Nonprofit, Social welfare, or relevant field preferred 
  • 5-7 years' experience with nonprofit fundraising and direct solicitation 
  • 5-7 years' experience with strategic fund development experience, with 2-3 years' experience of portfolio moves management and direct solicitation
  • High degree of competency working with CRMs (Salesforce preferred) and project management tools (Asana preferred)
  • Familiarity with donation processing platforms (Cvent preferred) 
  • Experience managing a portfolio of new and existing donors
  • Strong desire to uphold the ideals of community service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; communication with all levels of management 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Proven passion for giving back to community

ABOUT the Community Engagement department

The In-N-Out Burger Foundation was established in 1995 with the goal of raising funds to assist abused and neglected children in the communities where we live and do business.  

In 2016, the Slave 2 Nothing Foundation was established to educate and assist in solutions to eliminate human trafficking as well as focus on those needing treatment, rehabilitation and prevention from drug/alcohol abuse. Our Fundraising Team supports both foundations with small and large scaled fundraising efforts as well as collaborating with Community Impact on volunteer opportunities for our In-N-Out Burger Associates and their families.
