We have an excellent opportunity for a full-time Department Head of Meat Production based in our Chino, CA meat processing plant.  This person reports to the Director of Meat and Spread Operations and is responsible for the oversight of ground beef production across all In-N-Out Burger processing plants. This includes overseeing all aspects of beef processing operations, from planning for and receiving raw materials to final product packaging; to be achieved through training, developing, and engaging a high performing team to deliver quality and wholesome products to our internal Customers. The Department Head of Meat Production is responsible for overseeing 3-5 Meat Production Managers, which requires occasional travel to remote locations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, critical and long-range thinking, knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards, proven experience leading a large team; and a minimum 10 years of experience in ground beef production is required.    

General Responsibilities:

  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, ensuring associate satisfaction and motivation.
  • Lead, train, and develop a high-performing team of processing associates.
  • Promote safety and quality standards to ensure a secure and efficient work environment.
  • Oversee all aspects of beef further processing operations, from receiving raw materials to final product packaging.
  • Implement and optimize production processes to meet quality, quantity, and timeline goals, while respecting corporate culture and values. 
  • Monitor production metrics and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
  • Oversight of beef raw material procurement and vendor relationships.
  • Responsibility for ensuring that specifications are consistently reviewed and performance audited.
  • Partner with internal resources to develop and manage the budget for the beef further processing operations in multiple locations.
  • Control costs, reduce waste, and maximize operational efficiency.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to increase product quality.
  • Oversight in ensuring that the Maintenance operations team is functioning effectively within a high redundancy and uptime environment.
  • Assist in implementing data driven preventative maintenance procedures to extend the life of machinery.

Work Schedule + Benefits:

  • Full-time, Exempt
  • Pay Range is $180,000 to $225,000 
  • Eligible for a 20% Quarterly Bonus 
The above represents the expected pay range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we will consider your experience and other job-related factors
  • Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am-4:00 pm
  • Office location: Chino, CA
  • Travel: Approximately 10-20% of time will be spent visiting remote locations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agri-Business or related field  (Required) 
  • 10+ years of experience in large beef slaughter or further processing operations (Required)  
  • 5+ years of experience leading others, ideally large teams 
  • Excellent knowledge of meat industry and USDA regulations, and safety standards 
  • Proven leadership of team management skills 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • CA driver’s license in good standing

Physical Demands/Requirements:

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
  • Cold working conditions - Ability to withstand prolonged work assignments in cold temperatures; Temperature fluctuations in the warehouse 
  • Maintain constant mental focus and constantly be aware of surroundings
