We have an excellent opportunity for a full-time Category Buyer currently based in our Baldwin Park, CA warehouse.  *This position will be permanently based in our new 26-acre Chino, CA Warehouse opening in early 2023.  

The Category Buyer reports to the Purchasing Manager and will assist the team with produce, dry goods, janitorial, small wares, beverages, ingredients, dairy, supplies, services, and other items critical to our operations' needs.  This position will strategically assist with managing our vendor relationships and minimize risk to the supply chain. 

General Responsibilities

  • Issues purchase orders, returns to suppliers, inventory allowances, and credits
  • Monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current database of vendor information
  • Identifies problems, evaluates alternatives, and develops solutions according to company standards
  • Responsible for the purchasing and vendor assurance activities; ensure appropriate levels of inventory and product on daily basis
  • Executes purchasing of new and existing items; serves as point-of-contact for vendor sales representatives
  • Conducts vendor scorecards to evaluate performance and identify areas of opportunity 

Work Schedule + Benefits

  • Full-time position, Hourly (non-exempt)
  • Hours: 7am – 4:00pm, Monday through Friday
  • Overtime as necessary
  • Occasional travel for vendor visits, which may include nights & weekends (1-3 times/month)

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in a related field is strongly preferred
  • A minimum of four years' experience in an internal purchasing environment is required
  • Intermediate knowledge of Oracle ERP is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of High Jump is preferred 
  • Proficient in MS Office, with intermediate skills in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is required    
  • For Store associates: 
    • Minimum one (1) year tenure with In-N-Out Burger
    • Minimum Level 3
    • No Final Warnings in the last six (6) months and must be in good standing with Management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills 
  • Proven history of providing outstanding customer service while proactively troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Ability to work autonomously/independently, yet be an integral part of an overall team environment
  • Desire to learn constantly, and willingness to try new approaches to administration
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment, while exhibiting a positive and professional attitude 
  • Willingness to travel as needed 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while exercising discretion and good judgment
